Interconnectivity of the Deep Feminine Forces

Ilene did a series of Mayan images taken from ancient pottery and temple walls. These paintings show how the ancient Maya people found the flow of Interconnectivity within the deep feminine forces behind all of their creative actions.

Painting these were initially a challenge for her, until one night she had a dream to look at these images in the style of calligraphy. Traditionally calligraphy is letters or words created by pen and brush that follows a simple unbroken flow. As Ilene painted she allowed this unbroken movement to create the flowing images of Interconnectivity from unseen to seen forces emerging into and supporting the creative actions of living life.

When ilene shared this dream with me, I recalled several conversations I had with my mayan mentor, Linda Schele, who described to me a similar way she created the sketches she drew from the ancient maya images and hieroglyphs. She  could not look at and try to copy what she saw in individual pieces, rather each part of the painting was one symbol telling its own unique story through her brush.
